What does it take to be one of the 10 Points of Light?
- Hold an empowering event of your choosing on the last Thursday in April. The actual activity or itinerary is up to We only ask that you choose a way to show your support for survivors. Consider these popular options: vigil, walk, yoga, run, bike, speak-out, poetry slam, musical performance.
- Open your event to the public, if possible. Get as many people as you can to
- Join our two planning calls with the other Points of Light in the months leading up to the event.
- There is no financial cost to being one of the 10 Points of However, if you do hold a fundraiser, all funds should be donated to the TBTN Foundation.
- Plan to get out the word via social media and live tweet and post about your event. If everyone is comfortable take photos and videos and post these powerful moments.
- Your event should be inclusive and welcome to all people.
What can we expect in being one of the 10 Points of Light?
- Enjoy visibility on the Take Back The Night Foundation Website and Social Media platforms.
- Opportunity to be part of national, regional and local interviews for tv, radio and other media
- Opportunity to have celebrities attend and participate in your event. If you prefer not to have celebrities, please let us know on your application.
- Opportunity to receive funding for your event should interested parties contact the TBTN Foundation with offers of support.
How to Apply
- Make sure you have a coordinator and a co-coordinator or other contact.
- Prepare a short description of your event.
- Have a logo or other image available to identify your organization and/or event.
- Ensure you have a location to hold the event on the last Thursday in April.
- Complete the application on the TBTNF Website.
- TBTNF will let you know if you’ve been accepted within 5-10 business days at the latest. You’ll usually know with 3 days.
