Katie Koestner is the first woman in the United States to speak out nationally and publicly as the victim of campus “date” rape at age 18. Katie has been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC Nightly News, CNBC Talk Live, CNN, Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Later Today, MSNBC, Entertainment Tonight and other national television programs. Katie is the subject of an HBO movie and has lectured for over 5000 schools and organizations in North America and around the world.

Following your dreams and rising above hardship has produced fabulous dividends for one entrepreneur, whose growing line of beauty products are now available at mega-retailer Walmart’s online store. Schenika Quattlebaum, a determined African-American domestic abuse survivor took her courage in hand and made a huge leap of faith when she started Natalia Me-Gan Beauty on August 9, 2018 for all of humanity. Mrs. Quattlebaum has made it her mission to be an advocate for domestic violence. Her story is truly inspirational and can serve as a boiler plate for those who have a dream and work hard towards making it a reality!

PHYSICIAN, TBTN DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADORS

Anju is a doctor who completed her medical training in India and is a passionate advocate for equality and women’s rights. As a medical professional, she aims to use a trauma-informed perspective to empower people to heal and overcome the obstacles they face in their lives. She currently serves as the Director of International Ambassadors in TBTN and is committed to using her skills to advocate for and support survivors.

Rabea is the Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Beatbox Safe Space. It is her goal that everyone that enjoys beatboxing feels safe and represented in the growing hip hop art form. As a cptsd warrior it’s one of her biggest aspirations to bring healing to the spaces she works in and give misconduct prevention and response tools to event organizers. She is currently working towards starting a bachelor’s degree in social work in her home country of Germany and would love to focus on the intersection of music, community and mental health in her future work.

John “Galush” Galusha is a 2020 Graduate of Bowdoin College where they sang with the Meddiebempsters a cappella group and double-majored in Music and Gender/Sexuality Studies. A teaching artist, Galush has partnered with BEAT Global to lead clinical research studies pairing beatboxing with speech therapy. Galush is a former music educator for Region 1 in Connecticut and has an active roster of independent students in beatboxing, looping, singing, songwriting, and digital production. Combining their passions for education and social justice, Galush is also a representative of Beatbox Safe Space (non-profit) that works to advance inclusive and diverse spaces and event design within the beatboxing community.

Kaila Mullady (She/Her)

FOUNDER, THE ACADEMY OF NOISE

Kaila Mullady is the 2015 & 2018 World Beatbox Champion who performs all over the world, infusing beatboxing, singing, rapping, and theater to push the boundaries of creativity and show just what the human instrument is capable of. Kaila is passionate about sharing the art form of beatboxing as a tool for authentic communication and self-expression.

Joe is a board member and audio engineer for the nonprofit organization Beatbox Safe Space. He takes a deep interest in the intersections of beatboxing, music production and neurodivergency. Due to his skill set he has a close connection to the Looping Community, a subset of the Beatbox Community that creates entire songs by looping their beatbox sounds. As the art form grows he would like to see better inclusion practices and safer events. Currently Joe is finishing up his degree in Music Production and planning on gaining more experience in event production.

Chesney Snow (He/Him)

LECTURER OF THEATER & MUSIC THEATER, PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

Drama Desk winner Chesney Snow is renowned in American beatbox culture, co-founding the American Beatbox Championships and executive producing the event for 7 years. He produced and starred in “American Beatboxer,” now archived in institutions like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Harvard University Hip Hop archive. Recently, Snow showcased his vocal foley artistry in Tony-winning play “Skeleton Crew” on Broadway. Snow’s album with Spoken Love topped European charts under Warner Music. As a dedicated educator, Snow made history as Princeton University’s first full-time music theater faculty in 2022, and he’s an associate professor at Berklee College of Music. Collaborating with Emmy-winner Lisa Russell, Snow’s artistry spans performances with the United Nations and transformative workshops in venues from Rikers Island to the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Amy serves as the Assistant Director for Take Back The Night. Amy coordinates the biannual TBTN Global Virtual Event and manages the TBTN Gear Shop. She provides technical direction to participants and volunteers for national TBTN projects and events, such as the Shine Your Light Yoga Festival. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences and professional experience in the medical field, Amy brings a passion for wellness to TBTN. Amy is also the Client Services Director for Campus Outreach Services, where she brings educational programs to schools on Health & Wellness issues, including Consent & Healthy Relationships.

Samantha Rose (She/Her)

Samantha is the Board President of the nonprofit organization Beatbox Safe Space. She’s been including elements of beatboxing into her life since she was a young adult. Now it is one of her biggest aspirations to bring the tools of beatboxing to young people while also teaching them essential communication skills that will prevent a culture of misconduct from developing. She has a background in music production and alternative healing modalities like Reiki which bring a unique perspective to her work with leaders and survivors in the beatboxing space. One of her next goals is to become a certified trauma-informed practitioner.
