Katie Koestner is the first woman in the United States to speak out nationally and publicly as the victim of campus “date” rape at age 18. Katie has been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC Nightly News, CNBC Talk Live, CNN, Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Later Today, MSNBC, Entertainment Tonight and other national television programs. Katie is the subject of an HBO movie and has lectured for over 5000 schools and organizations in North America and around the world.

PRIVATE PRACTICE COUNSELOR, FORMER ASSISTANT DEAN OF STUDENTS, CORNELL UNIVERSITY

Kiran owns, and is the clinical director of, a group mental health counseling practice that focuses on the treatment of trauma and cycles of aggression and victimization. She holds a master of arts degree in philosophy, a master of science degree in marriage and family counseling, and a doctoral degree in criminal justice. Kiran is a certified EMDR therapist, and an EMDRIA-approved consultant. She is committed to counteracting all forms of interpersonal violence by empowering people to interrupt intergenerational transmission of trauma, and to create healthy contexts for interaction and attainment of potential. Prior to opening her mental health counseling practice, Kiran was at Cornell University as an assistant dean of students.

STUDENT & PROGRAM MANAGEMENT INTERN, UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA

May Hu is a fourth-year student at the University of Georgia studying Management Information Systems, International Business, and Psychology. Over the past couple of summers, she has interned as a Program Manager at NCR in Atlanta and Microsoft in Seattle. May is extremely passionate about Diversity and Inclusion, even starting an organization called rePresenting Asian Americans (RPAA) at her university. The first of its kind at her school, RPAA aims to empower the Asian Community, bring to light stereotypes and its unique challenges such as the Bamboo Ceiling and fetishization, and present the business value of incorporating D&I curriculum in courses.

ARTIST AND EDUCATOR

Ashley Dequilla is an artist born to Filipino immigrants, whose work seeks to resolve external physical perceptions, especially through challenging secular conditioning, while exploring internal spiritual consciousness. She uses painting as a meditative and transcendental practice that resolves inner conflict and traumatic events. Her work responds to the call of action against the deep injustices of our time, stemming from personal experiences. Ashley graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BFA in Studio Art and Art History and holds a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She also works as an activist and propagandist, has held numerous positions in art education, and has exhibited in the United States and the Philippines. She currently is attending the University of Illinois Chicago for her MFA in Studio Art.

CO-FOUNDER, THE MIND BODY PROJECT

Erin Lee Henshaw is a facilitator and co-founder of The Mind Body Project. She launched this company in 2015 to bring trauma sensitive mindfulness programs to schools, hospitals and communities. She believes in experiential learning and has taught mindfulness programs in China, India, South Africa and the United States. Programs with Erin involve a strong foundation in brain science, a container of kindness and a dash of optimism for increasing comfort and reducing struggle. Erin is currently teaching online courses, workshops, trainings and individual sessions.

TITLE IX COORDINATOR, EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY

Dr. Frost has been working in the field of Title IX for more than a decade. She holds a BA in Psychology, MA in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration. Dr. Frost was instrumental in writing the first sexual harassment/misconduct policy and procedures for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She remains very passionate about equity and equality by continuing to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing world of Title IX.

MUSICIAN AND STUDENT, CHELSEA HIGH SCHOOL

Caley Plank is a 17 year old student, musician, actress, and activist who lives in Chelsea, MI. A two year academic letter winner and member of the National Honor Society, Caley enjoys singing, playing the saxophone, and performing in the high school show choir. Caley has participated in many local theater and musical productions. Most recently, Caley played Finnula in the 2021 Chelsea Theatre Guild production of Wonderful Wacky Witches. Caley is currently pursuing her interest to attend a four year college to earn a degree in film of musical theatre.

STUDENT COORDINATOR, FLAGLER COLLEGE

Bryson Meadows is the Student Coordinator for the It’s On Us Chapter at Flagler College. Majoring in Sociology and Media Studies while minoring in Philosophy and Pre-Law, his number one goal in life is to leave the world ‘a bit better and more beautiful because I have lived in it’ -par with Edward W Bok’s philosophy. He believes life is tough enough as it is, people helping people helping people is the best chance we have at getting through it.

FORMER DIRECTOR OF GENDER AND SOCIAL CHANGE PROGRAM, UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

Claire Kaplan is a survivor, the mother of a survivor, a victim advocate and human rights activist. She founded and directed the Gender Violence and Social Change Program at the University of Virginia Women’s Center for 29 years until her retirement in June 2020. She is writing a book to help parents understand sexual misconduct and Title IX regulations, and how to appropriately support their children if they experience this violence. She currently lives with her wife of 33 years and three cats in Central Virginia.

SURVIVOR AND REGISTERED NURSE

Angela is a sexual assault survivor who shattered the silence of sexual violence.  After living in shame and secrecy for 34 years, she found the courage to report to authorities in the fall of 2018.   Against all odds, she located and confronted her perpetrators in the spring of 2019.   Later that year, she was the keynote speaker at STAR Nola’s Champions of Change Gala; honoring those that shattered the silence of abuse.    As a member of RAINN’s Speakers Bureau, she has been invited to give the keynote address to the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month’s (SAAM) observance in April of 2022.  Angela is a Registered Nurse and earlier this year, completed the online didactic Adult/Adolescent course in forensics through LSU.   Though her journey has been long and painful, her voice and dignity have been restored.  She lives with her husband in Mandeville, Louisiana.

SURVIVOR, POET, & STAY-AT-HOME PARENT

Mia Dineen is a survivor of CSA who uses her poetry as a means of coping and emotional expression. She is currently working on compiling her works and hopes to someday be able to publish them. Mia believes that all survivors of sexual assault deserve to have their voices heard, and she wishes that her voice and writings can bring even just a small amount of hope and comfort to those who may be struggling. Mia lives with her spouse and two children in Cumberland, North Carolina.
